I think Seattle is trying with some programs; however, the fact of the matter is that we are all human. Being human makes us inherently flawed. A lot of these people - simply put - cannot and will never be able to be helped. Just the way it is, man. They might stop for a little bit but eventually end up returning to the drug and dying. I live in Oregon, sadly this is what all of Portland is like and it's flooding outward to neighboring cities. Our Max lines are filled with addicts and drug paraphernalia 😪, it's heart breaking to see their pain and not bee able to help. people are so quick to judge them boy knowing their stories, no one wakes up one day and says "I think I'll become an addict today" a person doesn't become this for fun, it's out of pain and suffering and desperation to numb the pain, the voices, the memories of tragedy, abuse etc. I've never been addicted to drugs or alcohol but, I am a self harmer since I was a small child trying to chase away my own set of demons and memories of the horrible things done to me. I may not know what they are going through but, I can understand their path. I just wish there was a way to help take their pain away without the drugs and or alcohol. 🌻
